Early Treatment

An orthodontist can enhance a smile at any age; however there is an optimal time for each individual patient to begin treatment. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends an initial evaluation at the first sign of an orthodontic problem or no later than age 7. Orthodontic treatment may not be needed at this age but thorough examination can help predict the best time to begin orthodontic treatment. Early diagnosis provides an opportunity for intervention which can lessen the severity of future problems. Early treatment is recommended to alleviate crowding, correct a crossbite, lessen the likelihood of trauma, or for aesthetic concerns. Most frequently early treatment will be limited in nature. The gallery below shows several cases Dr. Broermann has treated.
